«The Great Personality of the Great Steppe»

This year, the great anniversary is celebrated by a truly national writer and poet, publicist, public and political figure, winner of the State Prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan Olzhas Suleimenov. He turns 85 years old. On this significant date, the librarians of the Higher College of Geodesy and Cartography organized an online exhibition: «The Great Personality of the Great Steppe».

Purpose: To introduce students to the creative fate of O. O. Suleimenov as a geologist, poet, philologist, public figure and diplomat.

Olzhas Omarovich Suleimenov – poet, literary critic, people’s writer of the Kazakh SSR, public and political figure of Kazakhstan, diplomat. Born on May 18, 1936 in Almaty, O. O. Suleimenov is a Kazakh poet and writer, a representative of the literature of the East, who creates his works in Russian. In his work, he turned to the problems of moral, ethical, political, literary and environmental issues.

Hundreds of articles and scientific works have been written about the bright multi-faceted work of the outstanding Kazakh poet. His name is known far beyond the borders of the country, the geography of Olzhas Suleimenov’s popularity is truly immense.
